Chrysler CEO declines 2011 pay

Chrysler CEO

This is such a good news story! Here is a guy who (appears) to really care about the profitability of his company. If you read it, he has the company cover expenses for his home, which is fair, and thats pretty much it. Now, if you could get a union worker to suck it up like this, the world would be a better place and I would consider buying an american branded car.

DETROIT (Reuters) – Chrysler Group LLC’s top executive declined a salary and bonus for a second straight year in 2011, when the Detroit automaker repaid more than $7 billion in government loans from its bankruptcy restructuring nearly three years ago.

Chief Executive Sergio Marchionne is still compensated as CEO of Italian automaker Fiat SpA, which owns 58.5 percent of Chrysler and paid him 3.5 million euros ($4.5 million) in 2010.

Chrysler did reimburse Marchionne, however, for cleaning, security and other costs at his condominium in Michigan, according to an annual regulatory filing released late Tuesday.

Facebook Graffiti Artist Could be Worth $500 Million (video)

Choe

All of here at Minute14 are HUGE Stern Show fans and heard every minute of the Choe interview discussing his new found wealth… as I read this New York Times article all I could think was ‘Jealous much?’ He points out that had requested an interview several times and was declined, but goes on The Stern Show… Perhaps Nick should have dome better reporting instead of telling us what Howard spoke about. Tell us something that 10 million of us didn’t hear on Tuesday Good for Choe on making some good decisions on his business… well done! Oh, and one more thing… BABA BOOEY? BABA BOOEY! BABA BOOEY!

Last week Evelyn Rusli and I wrote about the people who are set to get rich from Facebook’s cominginitial public offering of stock. The most startling was David Choe, a graffiti artist who chose Facebook stock instead of cash when he spray-painted the first Facebook offices in 2005.

Although Mr. Choe declined several requests for an interview while I was reporting the story, he took to the airwaves on Tuesday as a guest on The Howard Stern Show to discuss his windfall. (Warning: the conversation, like Mr. Choe’s paintings, is very sexual descriptive.)

Mark Zuckerberg’s IPO Letter: Why Facebook Exists

Facebook

Like or dislike Zuckerberg, you need to admire the change he has brought to the world… all from a little room at Harvard and built on determination to what he believes in. Thank you Mark and look forward to the IPO

Facebook CEO and founder Mark Zuckerberg tucked a letter into the company’s filing for an initial public offering in which he explains the reason he created in 2004 what is now the world’s largest social networking site. The letter provides rare insight into Zuckerberg, who remains somewhat of an enigma despite the ubiquity of Facebook.

Here is the letter in full:

LETTER FROM MARK ZUCKERBERG

Facebook was not originally created to be a company. It was built to accomplish a social mission — to make the world more open and connected. We think it’s important that everyone who invests in Facebook understands what this mission means to us, how we make decisions and why we do the things we do. I will try to outline our approach in this letter.

At Facebook, we’re inspired by technologies that have revolutionized how people spread and consume information. We often talk about inventions like the printing press and the television — by simply making communication more efficient, they led to a complete transformation of many important parts of society. They gave more people a voice. They encouraged progress. They changed the way society was organized. They brought us closer together.

Today, our society has reached another tipping point. We live at a moment when the majority of people in the world have access to the internet or mobile phones — the raw tools necessary to start sharing what they’re thinking, feeling and doing with whomever they want. Facebook aspires to build the services that give people the power to share and help them once again transform many of our core institutions and industries.
